Get to Know Showaround Locals in Bratislava: Meet Ralph
Background: Ralph was born in Paris, France, where he lived for most of his life. Being of Slovak origin, he always felt closer to his Eastern European culture and therefore wanted to spread the word about it.
His first step towards achieving this goal was to open a traditional Slovak Christmas market under the Eiffel Tower. After that, the move to Bratislava, Slovakia, felt natural, where he decided to work as a tour guide. The city quickly captured Ralph’s heart and he has lived there ever since.
Showaround: Why did you decide to become a Showaround Local?
Ralph: Showaround Locals have the same mindset as I have, it’s all about being a real traveller, not a tourist, and providing an authentic local experience.
Showaround: What’s your favourite brunch spot in Bratislava?
Ralph: I am addicted to new experiences, so I'm constantly looking for the best and most interesting restaurants to try out. I can't talk about my favourite one; it's a secret that I reveal only during my Showaround tours. But in the summer time, you'll definitely find me soaking up the sun on one of the awesome hipster terraces in the historical centre of Bratislava.
Showaround: How would your friends describe you?
Ralph: My friends would describe me as talkative, friendly and hyperactive.
It’s all about being a real traveller, not a tourist, and providing an authentic local experience.
Showaround: How do you spend your free time?
Ralph: Being active is really important to me, so during my spare time I travel or wakeboard on the lakes of Bratislava.
Showaround: How would you describe the local people of Bratislava?
Ralph: People in Bratislava can be cold and quiet at first, so buying them a beer is a good idea. But the young generations are quite different, they are travelling more and staying away for longer periods of time. Therefore, most of the time they are warm, friendly and very keen for a chat.
Showaround: Thank you, Ralph, for your answers!
